Jump

IMGP0420800This image was taken on the back side of Moku Nui while balancing my canoe on rolling ocean swells, holding my paddle with one hand while trying to keep my other arm as still as possible to capture an image of these three guys climbing to a higher jumping spot this past weekend.

Crazy Blue

BluieI have to admit, I sure do love the color blue but this was just too crazy blue, I just had to take this shot!

Hawai'i seriously needs a concert like this!
Song: “All These Things That I’ve Done” by The Killers

“All These Things That I’ve Done” lyrics by The Killers

(Written by: Brandon Flowers, Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer, & Ronnie Vannucci.)

When there’s nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son?
One more son
If you can, hold on
If you can, hold on, hold on

I wanna stand up
I wanna let go
You know, you know
No, you don’t, you don’t
I wanna shine on, in the hearts of men
I want a mean it from the back of my broken hand

Another head aches, another heart breaks
I’m so much older than I can take
And my affection, well it comes and goes
I need direction to perfection, no no no no

Help me out, yeah
You know you gotta help me out, yeah
Oh, don’t you put me on the back burner
You know you gotta help me out, yeah

And when there’s nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son?
These changes ain’t changing me
The cold hearted boy I used to be

Yeah, you know you gotta help me out, yeah
Oh, don’t you put me on the back burner
You know you gotta help me out, yeah
You’re gonna bring yourself down, yeah
You’re gonna bring yourself down, yeah
You’re gonna bring yourself down

I got soul, but I’m not a soldier
I got soul, but I’m not a soldier
I got soul, but I’m not a soldier
I got soul, but I’m not a soldier

I got soul, but I’m not a soldier
I got soul, but I’m not a soldier
I got soul, but I’m not a soldier
I got soul, but I’m not a soldier

I got soul, but I’m not a soldier
I got soul, but I’m not a soldier

Time, truth, and heart

Yeah, you know you gotta help me out, yeah
Oh, don’t you put me on the back burner
You know you gotta help me out, yeah

You’re gonna bring yourself down, yeah
You’re gonna bring yourself down, yeah
Oh, don’t you put me on the back burner
You’re gonna bring yourself down

Over and in, last call for sin
While everyone’s lost, the battle is won
With all these things that I’ve done

All these things that I’ve done

Time, truth, and heart

If you can, hold on
If you can, hold on

The Road to Nowhere

IMG_0015800This is literally the road that takes you to nowhere. All good things must come to an end and so does this scenic drive along the west side before it ends at Kaena Point. Technically, this doesn't mean you can't go any further, because a good pair of legs and/or bicycle tires by a skilled rider will permit you to venture around the point and to the North Shore. Be forewarned though, the blistering heat on a good day will leave you feeling crispy fried!

The Great Wall of ....

IMGP0336800The great sandy wall of Mokunui - this may not be any where near as impressive as the 4000+ miles of the Great Wall of China, but in the spirit of the Olympics, I bring you this natural sandy formation caused by the waves and currents! Go Olympics and Pray for Peace for all!

Think Light

IMG_12221024800Situated in the middle of the Pacific, Hawaii is a strategically advantageous location for the military, and as a result, there are some places that are used for military training in preparation for deployment into war zones. On this day, we journeyed to one of those places - atop the rim of this bombing site. The sign may be short on words but it says a lot - "Think Light!"

The views to die for!
