The pink hotel...

...the Royal Hawaiian... and one of the first hotels built in Waikiki! During WW II, this hotel was closed to tourist and used by the military for rest and relaxation. Surfers are lining up for the next wave. Click on image to enlarge!

This photo is dedicated to Denton of Greenville S.C. for noting my earlier post was the first from a canoe...Well, here is a second from my canoe about a mile outside of Waikiki. Smiles!

This is a good way to see Waikiki! Do you have a waterproof camera or are you a really skilled kayaker?

Cool shot from a canoe! Don't get too close to the waves though, otherwise you and your camera might end up in the water ;).
I like the style of the pink hotel, actually prefer it over the hotels around it.

Hi Louise - To answer your question, I actually do not have a waterproof camera so I "used to" place it in a waterproof housing - then I got lazy and now I place it in a double ziplock bag and wrap a towel around it - when I find something I want to shoot, I wipe my hands dry with the towel and pull the camera out. otherwise, it stays in my lap - I used to bring it when I was kayaking, but the kayak gets kinda tippy so now i bring it only when I'm in a canoe. My kayak is also 20 feet long and about 18 inches wide except it does not have the outrigger ('Ama)

Finally I can see this pink hotel! I have had difficulties with bloggers photos. Whole weekend I saw only the texts and I have been so curious to see pink hotel. It looks like to made for Barbie dolls.

I like your blog much, only bad thing is that it make me longing for faraway places ;-)
