Wind Surfing

It was a wild and windy day in Kailua yesterday and with the winds comes the wind and Kite surfers!

About 12 of us (5 guys and 7 women) went kayaking in the morning only to be greeted with strong currents and blusterous winds making for a great water adventure. Six of us made it out to Popoi'a Island, which normally would be a very non-eventful and short journey, but on this day, the strong winds and currents turned the water into an ocean treadmill for some. Others got tired and turned back to shore after a courageous attempt to overcome mother natures powers. For the rest of us, it was nice to reach our destination and relax for a bit before our afternoon hike.

By chance, Alice of Arradon DP also posted something on wind surfing today... http://arradondailyphoto.blogspot.com/2007/06/du-vent-et-des-voiles.html

Hope you all have a nice weekend!

Kala - you were the one who told me what this sport was called when I posted my picture of kite surfing, but I wish my picture looked like this one! Sounds like a very energetic & energising day.

I like your photo of wind surfing and never thought much about it but it seems easier than trying to row out to an island in strong winds and rough seas in anything. Nice shot.

I'm amazed at the color of the water. You might remember Alexandra's photo at SDDP a little while back. Our water is so much darker and probably colder too!
