1 - 2 - 3 - 4

First, second, third, and fourth place! A very deserving and rewarding finish for a group of young, bright, humble, and good natured teens in todays high school kayak race.
When the teens are not kayaking in these ~20 feet long (6 meters), 18 inch (46 cm) wide kayaks, they are paddling or competing in water polo.

They looks so fit - and young! Lovely to see the muscles in the arms.

By the way, Kala, you have one of the greatest American poets living in Maui. He's been there for years (he's not a native) and he doesn't necessarily write of his Hawaii life but he might be considered a Hawaiin author. Another author, Susanna Moore, grew up in Hawaii and has written about it (My Old
Sweetheart and I Myself Have Seen It).

I love your blog! For one thing, life in Hawaii is so different from mine in Minnesota. But also, your photos are fun and interesting, and I like the comments you write about them (such as hoping people recycle or discard their bottles appropriately). Thanks for visiting mine and leaving a message! :-)

What does 1-2-3-4 mean in your title? I assume this a kayaking thing. Maybe the cadence of the stocks?
