Plumeria

Plumeria
The plumeria, although not indigenous to the islands, flourishes throughout the island. They have a very pleasant fragrance and is the flower of choice normally worn behind the ear(s) by locals. The above picture is one of countless varieties - to see the other variations of this beautiful flower, check out the link below (compiled by Botany faculty at the uni)...

For the past five years my flower has been worn on the left side, occasionally it switches.

The line, "The plumeria, although not indigenous to the islands, flourishes throughout the island," brings to mind all sorts of metaphors for me. I think about life surviving, transplanted all over the planet.

Thanks, again.

Beautiful! Does plumeria grow wild on the hillsides or is this in someone's yard?

This one was out in the wild so to speak - these flowers grow in both private yards but also on their own in the hills and side walks =P
