Roots
I took this photo on our monday hike and was simply impressed by its sheer size and shape - you really had to be there to appreciate it - oh well here it is.
On a completely different tangent, check this video from YouTube if you have the time - I thought this was completely amazing - supposely, only 3 out of some 2000 athletes from around the world have successfully completed this:

If for nothing else then perhaps an inspiration for putting on those workout shoes =P

Big tree, nice photo. It remembers me some pics I've from sequoias in California, the Tule tree in Mexico or the Cajueiro in Piranji, Natal, Brazil (though these last two are actually huge!).
What a crazy video...

wow! amazing roots!! I admire trees so much, "they"'re so clever and make some weirds things just to survive in the better way!
And.... oh! this man of your recommended video is something like a superhero?? holy shit! he's amazing!
that's the wonderful thing with DP, it feels like i'm physically there.
The size and shape of this tree lends itself to artistic composition. Creative. Good job!!
Holy wah?!!
That is an impressive tree!
Have you seen the Redwoods in CA? That was the most impressive tree experience I have had. It's amazing to think that some of those trees were alive when Jesus walked on the earth! That's old!
my gosh! we have nothing like that around here...
it reminds me of the ents in "lord of the rings"....
one of these days, i'm going to go see the giant redwoods out west and pretend i'm a wood elf.... :)
hey have you been somewhere in a magic kingdom? =)
We have some trees with roots like that too in the city´s Botanical Garden. That´s quite something ins´t it?!
Awesome!
Fabulous photograph. Is this a type of fig? Curtain fig tree? Perhaps my memory is playing up.
And amazing video. The guy was so happy to get to the finish - good for him. Some achievement. I wonder if he's still a fisherman. He's probably wildly famous in Japan now.

When I was living in Ivory coast there were such trees we call them "fromagers"
I was young (I came back France when I was 14) so I don't remember much of them. They were not really near our home. However I was living in the forest
I have some photos of our family near the roots of one of these huge trees
It would have been interresting to have someone or something giving the scale of theses roots
Listening to my favorite online radio station Radio Paradise under headphones and visiting my favorite photo blogs before dinner is my treat at the end of the day. Of course, I love your photos...a huge fan of your talent!
wow cool tree!
Man! That Ninja Dude is totally out of this world! He made it look so easy, with a smile on, and all! Really impressive to see a hairless monley like that! ;-)
Very nice photo! The subject is pretty cool and the colors are so vibrant.
How many people would you need to hug this tree? What do you think?
ummmm you and I and maybe two more people hahaha =D
