Action packed day!
Read an obit of Don Ho here - real passing of an era.
I think I first heard of him thru The Brady Bunch eps in Hawaii when I was a kid!
So much to see here today. And the photography is mind-boggling for me as I have not seen Hawaii since 1956 -- I was there in 1953, 1954, 1955 and 1956 -- all as a soldier. I see you off scaling mountains that make my knees wobble. I am afraid of falling -- I must have fell off or was pushed off a cliff in another life. LOL It is a very interesting view of life in Hawaii.

Brookville Daily Photo
I am anxious for you to see the Rose-Breasted Grosbeak that came to Brookville, Ohio yesterday. It is the first one I have seen since we moved here 44 years ago.
Wow! Looks like you'd get some good photo shots way on the top. Nice photo shots of the girls and climbing.
wow...I really enjoy your hiking photos! You live in such a paradise!!
Sally is right... a sad end of an era! Looks to have a been a beautiful memorial service '...makes me warm all over...'~ Tiny Bubbles.
Cool hike!!! And I laughed when I saw those kanacks on the road! Good job keeping them occupied... they look too tired to get into any kind of trouble!
Yikes - I have vertigo just looking at the photos of Mt. Olomana! Very nice send off for Don Ho too.
This 24 hour follow up is great! Who wouldn't want to spend 24 hours like this? Although I think it takes some working out to keep up with this rhythm!
Is there any photos of the volcano's mouth? I mean, this Koko Crater belongs to a volcano right?
Hi Monica, u r right! The crater does belong to a volcano that used to be active some 10,000 years ago. You can actually portions of the crater from one of my older post:

In the crater now resides a botanical garden and some residential homes =)
Kala, you are living in paradise:)
Great photos! It's right out of a dream. Or if I may quote oya "paradise". I got tired just looking as those pictures! You must be exhausted!!
Don Ho is dead??? O.M.G. When did it happen? I just can't believe this... no more tiny bubbles?
This is an awesome group of photos with gorgeous scenery and equally lovely healthy bodies. Must be a result of all that hiking!
Hi Sticky Paw - yes, Don ho has passed! He died of a heart attack back in April and is no longer with us but his memories live on! =)
Absolutely great series. Full of life
and also an admonition ( right word ?? )of it`s limitation.
So "Carpe diem" and enjoy your life!
I like the way you did the timeline. This is an idea I think I'll borrow sometime! :-) I wrote a tribute to Don Hon on my Moonlight Becomes Me blog. I wish I could have been out there on the water for the event...we watched it on tv here on Maui, but it would have better to be on the water.
its a perfect day!..i just wonder if hawaii has that humid air as usually at tropical places?
