Hui Nalu Canoe Blessing

[ Click on above image to enlarge ]

This is actually my first "official" photo posting for this blog site since I barrowed some material from my other blog to get this blog site active ... So, here it is :P
First, I'd like to say mahalo (thanks) to Denton of DailyPhotoMap for assisting me in getting started since I am new to this blog community thingy and have a lot to learn. Mahalo nui loa to Eric from Paris for getting this all started! A great concept of sharing from around the world. I was very surprised and grateful by the amount of responses already. Photography is one of my favorite hobbies when I am not studying, working, coaching kids, or playing outdoors. I have been very impressed with the quality of the photographs that I've had the chance to view. This is very kewl!

About the photo above: This photo was taken this afternoon at 5 PM at Maunalua Bay in Hawai'i Kai. Hui Nalu Canoe Club was having a canoe blessing. Loosely translated, "hui" means club and "nalu" means surf. In hawaiian tradition, the canoe is treated as a living entity with a spirit of its own and thus the special care in the birth of a new canoe. Today is the females scheduled practice day and thus why most of the people in the photo are females. If you click on the image, you can get a better view! :)
