Just as I remembered him some six/seven years ago when I was paddling for one of the canoe clubs adjacent to this soccer field at the Ala Wai. Many soccer goals later and he still sits idle until the ball sails over the fence and into the Ala Wai canal. He grabs those two oars resting along the fence to his right, hops into an inflatable craft, and retrieves the ball for some very grateful soccer players! This photo was taken this evening under the bright lights of Ala Wai Park.
What a special guy. And the photo is excellent too. And, your story about the man and his deed is compelling. Nice post.

ReplyDeleteIt's special indeed
This is a wonderful photograph. Not only is it so because of the challenges of it being taken into the light source but because of the mood and the sense of continuity.
ReplyDeleteWell done.
